Advanced Art Workshop

Offered to junior and senior students with prior experience in at least 3 high school level studio art classes.  Applicants will submit an application answering the following questions:

 

  1. What is your prior experience in art both in and out of public school?
  2. What materials or concepts, do you feel most comfortable working with?
  3. What materials or concepts do you want to learn more about?
  4. What are three personal goals for your time in Art Workshop?
  5. What inspires your as an artist?

Applications will be discussed in a short one-on-one meeting with faculty prior to the start of the semester.  

 

Students will work independently and submit a new art piece approximately every three works.  Written and verbal critiques are a critical part of our development as an art community and your development as an artists.  After completion of each new art piece the work must be documented digitally by the student for development of a portfolio.  

 

Additionally the Art 21 series will be viewed on a monthly basis in class.  Students will have the opportunity to select specific episodes for viewing in class.  Maintenance of a weekly self-guided sketchbooks (in addition to sketchbooks assignment in other art classes) and application to the Tri-Rivers Art Show and the Mount Mercy Art Show are required for this course.
