Create a New Rubric

This rubric can be copied into future assignments in the same course, different courses, and future semesters. 

 

Inside the window select the Create New Rubric button.

Your browser may display the following warning.  Select OK. 

A Rubric Information window will open.  The name and description selected for your Rubric on the Assignment page will appear at the top.

Click the Add Row button to insert criteria which will be assessed in the rubric.  This will create the start of a table (similiar to Excel)

Click on Row 1 to insert the name of the criteria being assess.  Note: The Delete this Row button is very close.  Be cautious not to click on Delete unless you want to remove the row entirely. 

Insert the criteria and any tags needed to idenitfy evaluation benchmark. 

Once the benchmark is entered

click the Save button

or the cancel button. 

Repeat this process for every criteria category in the rubric.  Then click the Add Column button.  Columns identify the numeric value or scores possible.

Click on Column 1 to insert the value of the criteria being assess.  Note: The Delete this Row button is very close.  Be cautious not to click on Delete unless you want to remove the row entirely.

Once the value is entered using the department's 5 point scale

click the Save button

or Cancel button. 

Repeat this process for all of the point levels possible on the 5 point scale.  Enter the Passing Score at the bottom of the window and select a Sum or Average calculation method.

 

You should now see a table with compete assessment criteria and scores. 

Click within a criteria/score cell to add details.

In the space

insert specific details for this criteria/score.


Click in the next criteria/score cell and repeat.  When all criteria, scores and details have been added click the Done button. 

This will close the window and return to the assignment.  Click the Save button at the button of the Workflow step

or Cancel to undo the work.

You can return to the rubric in the future or when copying the rubirc to make changes by clicking the Edit This Rubric button.
