Summer of Discontent: Chasing the Sunset
Orders placed, lists made, maps highlighted. I am poised for departure...
Couch surfing.
I've spent my last two summers relying upon my family, perching in whatever corner of their space they can spare.
Time for an adventure, a change: pedaling and painting my own style, my own pace.
Destination? Not sure.
Outcome? Thoughts, sketches, photos--who knows?
It's all about freedom. Care to join?

Hi Mark and Laurie!
Thanks for following me...
Laurie, while in Nebraska, I met a man and his two daughters riding their horses. Since Stink had never been near a horse, I warned him she may not react well. He jumped off his horse, tapped its flank, and assured me it wouldn't be a problem. The horse was so well trained, it lifted its back leg and allowed him to pass under its belly! Impressive!!
I am still working on finalizing the map. I will eventually upload the remainder of my images and add links to my blog at each location. I will post the link to the portfolio when I am finished editing it.
Mark, thanks for the encouragement! I enjoyed meeting you. Hope your travels are going well!

Laura,
Thank you for being one of my Good Samaritans! What an amazing coincidence that you likewise have a degree in art education!
Stinky and I arrived in Colorado on August 4. As for safely reaching our destination, as with everyone in life, that is always yet to be determined, isn't it?
So nice to have met you along the way!

Hi Roberta.
My name is Laura Ridout and I met you on your trek through Iowa. You and Stinky were pedaling/walking through the hills of Tama County near Vining/Chelsea, Iowa...they are also known as the Bohemian Alps because of all the Czech origin.
Roberta and Stinky had a rough couple days dealing with thunderstorms and mud, and they were without water. I wanted to give her a ride to the nearest town, but she didn't want to cheat, so I suggested an alternative route that didn't involve so many hills. Instead I replenished her water supply and wished her well on her excursion to COLORADO from Chicago...holy cow!
The ironic thing...I too, have a degree in art education. I also have a master's in special education.
It was very nice to meet you and your puppy...I hope you reach your destination!
Take care,
Laura

man, you are so adventurous! Don't think I could pedal that much. I'd have to take a horse, but wish I could make the trip! I've checked the map a couple of times and can't see your route. do you have any suggestions for the technically challenged?
