Meskwaki Tribal Museum, IA

July 09, 2013

In 1851, Iowa Legislature granted the Meskwaki Nation to purchase 80 acres of land, thereby establishing a settlement for the Sauk and Fox Tribes. The self-governing nation has grown to 8000 acres and includes a tribal school, police force, courts system and public works department. The unincorporated settlement, which hosts an annual Pow Wow, is home to the Tribal Museum and Meskawki Nation Casino.
